Glade

I think a lot of people would have to agree with me that brushing your teeth for two whole minutes would be boring! Well when I brush my teeth I pick things up in my bathroom and read them. This morning while I was brushing my teeth I was thinking of what I could do a blog on. So I was reading the back of a Glade air freshener can...... and there was spanish on it!... What are the chances? It said " Precaucion." which most of you should know means caution. I think this is the first thing that I could actually read most of the spanish. I didn't know 14 of the words on the entire can! Some of them were,"calefaccion, almacenar, sobrepasen" and some more. I was really proud of myself because I felt like I knew something!! I was very suprised on how much spanish I really know. And never thought I would know enough to almost be able to read everything on the bottle.

Wal-Mart

Yesterday I was in Cedar Rapids at Wal-Mart. My mom and I were in the fruit and vegetable section and beside us was a hispanic couple. They were talking in spanish about how many apples they should get. I didn't quite understand what they were talking about the entire time. I picked up a couple words here and there such as apple, how many and what time it was. At first when I heard them speaking it was uncomfortable. I thought they were maybe talking about me but I then started comprehending what they were saying. After I realized what they were saying I felt much more comfortable and also surprised that I understood as much as I did.

New Lamp

As Senorita has alwasy said..."Spanish is everywhere.".... Well, she is right. I got this new lamp to go in my room. The box has been sitting in my room for quite a while now. So this weekend I decided to throw it away. Before I did, I looked at it. And what do you know... There was Spanish on it. It said "Lampara de piso Combinada." Which means, "Combo Floor Lamp." There were a few words that I did know like; rosa, advertencia, seguridad, que, todo, and some more. I also knew some verbs. Like tiene, llamar, and usar. I was suprised that I could read the first sentence of the instructions! But you will be suprised about how much you really know.

Mexican Restaurant

I really like going to Los Aztecas because they have amazing food and great service. So when I was over visiting my grandparents we decided to go out to eat there. I ordered my usual, which is Pollo Loco which is chicken with onions and peppers on it. I think it's amazing and the beans and rice are the best. Our meal was good, and the chips and salsa were really good. The salsa was a little spicy though. Then we ordered vanilla fried ice cream, which was really good. When we got it this time though it was already soft so it was easier to eat than last time. Mexican food is definitely my favorite food of all time(:

Mexican Restaurant

Friday my mom, dad, and I went to the Mexican restaurant. We ordered our food, and when we were done waiting the new waiter come over to our table. He looked at us and mumbled, ''No mas comida?'' Mom and dad, not knowing what he said answered no. He walked away and I told them that he just talked in Spanish not English. Obviously. I told my parents that he said, ''No more food?'' I asked my parents that if they were supposed to be talking in Spanish while we are clearly American. They of course didn't have an answer for it.

Majoring/Minoring in Spanish

So my sister came home this weekend, and I was talking about the preterite test we just took. I also was talking to her about how much I love Spanish. She told me that I was going to minor in Spanish just like her, because of how much I love Spanish. I really thought about it because college really isn't that far away. I told her that I would think about it because I think that it would be very fun and interesting. I think minoring in Spanish would be really good for the occupation I want to go into photography. Knowing Spanish in that job would help be, because it would really help me interact with the people I work with.
