Real Spanish

I got to talk to my cousin's aunt a while ago. She is mexican and lives by the border in Mexico. She doesn't know a lot of English so my cousin, who is also mexican, translated for us. It was interesting hearing Spanish from her and trying to figure out what she was saying. She talked about how violent the border is and it made me realize how safe we really are in Iowa.
A couple months ago I was playing MW2. I got into a game lobby and there were some spanish speaking people in the lobby. I said hola me llamo Pablo and they started talking back in spanish. I couldn't understand everything they were saying but I could understand bits and pieces of what they said. It was cool to hear what they said but after that they got mad and left the lobby because I was dominating.

Daughters determination

I was walking the streets in Galena Illinois about two weeks ago. It was very cold but the trees behind the buildings were really pretty. Well worth it. Anyway, I walked into a clothing store, trying to warm up and litterally walked in on a mother and daughter's argument over clothes. The funniest thing was they switched from english to spanish. It was harder to follow but much more entertaining when I actually knew what they were screaming. The poor clerk had no idea. It was a very fun day. >.<''

Hunting Clothes

This weekend I went hunting. I did get one doe but that is not the point of this blog. While I was on the four wheeler and got all muddy. I thought great I am going to have to wash my clothes. That night while I took all of my equipment out of my orange coat I went to the washer and looked for the English version of the washing directions. First I looked on the tag on the neck, all I could find was Spanish and other languages. I thought this was America where we speak english, I did find the directions later but it was at the bottom of the coat where it was hard to find.

One time when i was with my dad and my grandpa and my grandpa girlfriend we went to a Mexican restaurant and I found out that she could speak spanish. She started to speak really fast and I could almost find out what she was saying. After that she started to talk about how she helped the police translate one time and it took forever and after it was done she had like 500 hundred dollars.

Mexican Restaurant

Today we went to the mexican restaurant in manchester for my birthday lunch. My parents took me. I told them that I wanted to go there because I love the food and haven't been there in a long time! They sang happy birthday to me in spanish of course and it's just cool to think that they celebrate birthdays the same way we do, and yes we each have our different ways of doing it but the singing part is the same and instead of cake, they give fried ice cream which is really good! Even though we are different from them we are also the same. The food was really good too, I got a chicken quesadilla and it was fantastic! I wonder if they eat american food too? It's a lot easier to understand what their trying to say because of sitting in spanish class with their accents and all.

Spanish in Church

Last weekend when I went to church in Delhi, their was a pamphlet on the end of the pew. When father was talking I grabed the pamphlet and started reading it. I was just thinking it would be some prayers, but when I flipped it over the other half was in spanish. I was supprised because I never thought I would see spanish in church. I started reading it. The pamphlet had spanish on one side and english on the other. I found out what some holy spanish words were. I found out that prayer was oración in spanish and that amar is to love in spanish. I understood some of the spanish on the pamphlet. I had flip it over for some of the bigger spanish words. It did keep me occupied most of church. At the end of church I took the pamphlet out thinking that it would be a good thing to blog about. This just shows that spanish is everywhere no matter where you are
