Baltasar Garzón
He was born in 1955 in Villa de Torres, Spain. Baltasar Garzón was a provincial judge at 23, and worked for the National Court at age 32. Garzón is one of six judges for Spain's National Court. In 1993, he took a leave of absence to run for a seat in Spanish parliament on the socialist ticket. He was a bad speaker, but his support was useful for the socialists. Baltasar won a seat, and he later quit politics and returned to his earlier job a year after the election. He has been in charge of some of Spain's big cases, like drug trafficking, corruption, the Basque terrorist group ETA, and the GAL, the shady hit-squad. In July 2009, Garzon organized the International Jurisdiction Summer School at El Escorial, where he helped bring up the Speak Truth to Power play starring prominent Spanish actors and U.S. actor Martin Sheen to Spain.
