Then we got talking about spanish class and how my stepmom works works with some mexicans on the farm and they are very nice people but they got my step mom and her boss into alot of trouble because they were illegal and they did not belong working were they were so she did end up having to go to court the other day and settle this. The other day she told me that when she was at work there were a bunch of investigators at her bosses house and they went threw all of his things looking to find out why and exactly they have illegal mexicans working there with them. Over summer i had worked there with them and they were very hard workers and they were very nice to all of us sdo i do not know why the athoritys were even contacted in the first place.

Advanced Auto

Jesse and I walk into Advanced Auto in Dubuque and go up to the counter to ask the lady for what Jesse needed for his truck. We told her and she left to go try to find the part. While she was gone two mexicans walked in and started speaking really loud and Jesse looked at them and then looked back. Then they walked past us and stood behind people in the other line and were still kind of talking loud in spanish. Then Jesse said to me "Your in spanish what are they saying?" I was like "Do you hear how fast they are speaking?","Their is no way i'm going to understand what they're saying." Then Jesse thought exactly what you said Senorita, he goes,"I feel like their talking about me"." I said, "That's what our spanish teacher said one of us would probably feel like but they most likly are not." Then we got our parts and left.

Salena gomez

I was switching through channels when i came across a show that stared Salena Gomez and i remeber that she is spanish speaking american.
She has her own show Wizards Of Waverly Place.
I am glade that there is Latin American haveing their own show.

Mexicans in wal-mart

The other day when I was in Wal-Mart I saw a family of Mexicans shopping. There was a woman, a man, and what seemed to be their kids. As I walked by them I heard them talking to each other in spanish, even though I'm in spanish class I couldn't understand what they were saying, because they were talking too fast. The man had probably the greatest mullet I have ever seen on person it went down past his waist and was truly awesome. He was carrying on a conversation with his son and i tried to follow along but they lost me after the first word. So that is the story of my encounter with the Mexicans in Wal-Mart.

Family

When I was at home my brother started to say the few phrases he knew in japanese so i countered him with spanish. He claimed i was being unfair but the i said he had started it so he had better try to finish it and then we both went on in spanish and i won because i know more spanish than him. This was a main reason i wanted to learn spanish.

Mexicans in the ally

I was out taking garbage out to the dumpster Friday night when I heard mexican music so I looked down the ally way and saw a bunch of obese mexicans in some run down cars. They were having a family get together that they have every Friday in the back ally where all the garbage is. They seem very poor, so I thought to my self Im very glad I am not a mexican partying in a back ally in dyersville, Iowa

Birthday Gift

Every time I pick out a present for my friends, I try to find something that matches their personality or something that will make them enjoy their birthday.

Julie Jones's birthday was on November 11. Weeks before that I had spent hours trying to think of what to get her. After 10 hours and a lot of second guesses, I decided to take her out to eat. I asked her where she would like to go and she picked Las Flores in Manchester. We hopped in the jeep and drove to Manchester.

When we got there, we looked around, absorbing the Spanish music, the smell of the Mexican food and the family sitting on the other side of the restaurant staring at us because we didn't seat ourselves yet. The waiter approaches us shortly after we sit down and he asks us what we would like to drink. She then orders chicken nachos and I order the fajita pita. The food was good and I loved the chips and salsa at the beginning but we decided to try new things..like the sauces on the side of the table.

I started with the regular hot sauce, and I liked it. Then we tried the red colored Habanero sauce, it was spicier but it wasn't bad. Then she had me try the green colored Habanero sauce, it burned so bad. It even smelled like it would burnAs we are about to leave, Julie decides we should have a contest. She thinks we should take the sauce put a line on the end of are knives and like it. The first to go for the pop, loses. As we about ready to go, she says "Hey does that look like someone we know", as I turn she dumps all her sauce off her knife. We then lick them, and I feel as if I started a wildfire inside my mouth. Everything burned. It even felt as if my insides of my eyes and ears were burning.

After I had won the bet, I had giving Julie money to walk up and pay the bill. The burning was starting to make my stomach hurt. We left and then both decided to go to the gas station and get milk to calm the burning.I have now learned my lesson. If it smells like it's burns, looks like it's going to burn, it will probably burn. DON'T TRY IT!

choir song

in choir we are singing a spanish song. The song is A la na nita nana. It is a lot easier to sing a spanish song this year because i know a lot more words then i did last year.
I was in McDonalds the other day and there was this spanish family. They were have a conver sation so i listended in to see if i could pick a few words out and to try to understand what they were saying but they were talking to fast for me to understand. I only ended up getting like 5 words at the most.

Baltasar Garzón

He was born in 1955 in Villa de Torres, Spain. Baltasar Garzón was a provincial judge at 23, and worked for the National Court at age 32. Garzón is one of six judges for Spain's National Court. In 1993, he took a leave of absence to run for a seat in Spanish parliament on the socialist ticket. He was a bad speaker, but his support was useful for the socialists. Baltasar won a seat, and he later quit politics and returned to his earlier job a year after the election. He has been in charge of some of Spain's big cases, like drug trafficking, corruption, the Basque terrorist group ETA, and the GAL, the shady hit-squad. In July 2009, Garzon organized the International Jurisdiction Summer School at El Escorial, where he helped bring up the Speak Truth to Power play starring prominent Spanish actors and U.S. actor Martin Sheen to Spain.
Rihannna has a new song that I absolutely love. its called Te amo and its talking about love. of course you would guess that because of the name but it has a really good beat. and from the lyrics it kind of seems she is singing it from a guys point of view and has a girl saying te amo to her (him) and doesnt get what the girl is saying but still says it back but thinks it mean I love you.

Texting

So I was texting a friend from Western Dubuque the other day. All of a sudden he sent me a message in Spanish, at first I was not sure what he said, but then I realized I understood the message. I answered him in Spanish and for a while we talked like that. We used simple words like gustar but it was actually kinda fun. We could understand each other in another language!! It was fun, but I do not plan on texting in Spanish any time soon! :)
I was at my sisters house the other day ad her boyfriend is mexican so they always have his friends over and a lot of times they are mexican also and sometimes he doesnt even like the people that are there like in this instance. And I had myself a stalker when I was there. It was really late and I wanted to go to be and this guy kept saying something to me and he didnt speak any english and I couldnt understand him and he was giving me the creeps so finally my sisters boyfriend physical had to take him from the house and I told robert what he had been saying but robert didnt understand becausee he never really listened to spanish but the next day his mom said I didn't even want to know what he said but she ended up telling me it had to do with a kiss. and he was like 30! creeppppppppppyyyyyy!

So I was sitting in church the other day and There was a little card that had a prayer on it and then on the reverse side it had the same prayer in Spanish and i read through it and saw words that I knew like cada persona- Every person. It was cool because I would look at the spanish and try to guess what it mean and then look on the english side to see if I was right.

Jennifer was Born July 24, 1969. She started off as a dancer seen in music videos. Then she won a competition and became a dancer on "living color." Her first Feature movie was in Mi familia or my family. Her First big showing was in 1997 the biography of Selena Perez who was killled by a crazy fan in 1995.

Translation?

Last night I was cleaning around the house and I looked at the bag my paper towels came in and it said, "Using less never felt so good." Under it there was a translation of it, "Usar menos nunca se sintio tan bien." Then I thought that it couldn't be right. That translation says," To use less never it felt so good." Is that how they translate everything in spanish? If they do that is weird to say "never it felt" and "to use less". They should have translated it as, "Usando menos sintio tan bien." At least in that one it actually says "using less." I can't believe I could actually understand what it was saying!

Spanish Food? My Favorite.

This past weekend I went shopping with my friend Jesse. We both needed some Christmas shopping done. After we got all of our shopping done we met up with his sister Sadie and her boyfriend Austin. We were all hungry so we decided to eat at Carlos O Kellys. Once we sat down and got our menus I realized we could have some fun with Sadie and Austin. So Jesse and I started quizzing them on their Spanish using the words on the menu, well, they failed.

Los Aztecas!

Last weekend, my family and I went out to eat at L...Last weekend, my family and I went out to eat at Los Aztecas in Dubuque. It is one of my favorite restaurants! I love eating there because it is all real Mexican food instead of generic. When you walk in you hear Spanish music, it has a nice beat to it. They have a lot of maracas and horns in the songs. Sometimes while I am waiting for my food I will listen to it and try to understand some of the words that they are saying. The decorations there seem to be all Mexican because we dont see them a lot around here. It is very colorful. I ordered chicken enchiladas with queso sauce. It is so good. I get it every time I eat there. They are fast servers. a lot of the workers there are really Mexican! They have a thick accent. It is kind of fun to hear them talk. They all spoke in English to us but I sort of wanted to try to talk in Spanish to them. When they brought me my food I said gracias instead of thank you. The waitor looked at me in surprise and smiled and said denada. It was a great experience going there (:

Movie in Spanish

Last time I was on Netflix I decided to watch this movie that looked interesting. I started watching it and it was in spanish but I thought it was going to change to english, but it never did. So I decided to keep watching it and see if I could tell what it was about. I made out some of the words and I could tell what it was about from what was going on. It was pretty interesting.

Stalker

I was watching the news this morning and it turns out that selena gomez has a stalker that has threatened to kill her. The stalker has a restraning order on him but the quart wont put a permanent one in place yet. Then the stalker said he wants a permenant restraning order agenst her so he wont be tempted to hurt her. Then the stalker said that god told him to and that he talks to god up to 50 times a day. Its a very interesting case.

Mexico

When I looked at my shampoo bottle in the shower, I tried to see if I could read any of the Spanish on there. I understood a couple phrases. One sentence said something about ayudar (to help) el pello. I was surprised that I knew a whole sentence on the shampoo bottle.
Also, when I went to Mexico last summer, I went shopping with my Mom in Cozumel. We went to a street market sort of thing. A mexican man tried to sell me a bracelet and asked me to marry him. I didn't really understand their culture and what he was trying to do. He was trying to get me to buy the bracelet, but I thought he was being serious. He told me if I ever come back to Mexico, he wanted me to come find him. My mom bought the bracelet and we left right away. Going to Mexico was the most fun I've had in a long time. The weather and the water is amazing.

Spanish Youtube Video

About a month ago I was going to watch a video on youtube. WHen the video started I found out that it was in Spanish. So, I decided to keep watching and find out how much I could translate into English. I was amazed at how fast the talking was. I was also surprised by how much of the video I could understand. It was a fun experience.
I went to theisons a couple of weeks ago and saw a hispanic family in there. They were looking at toys. I walked past and heard them talking spanish. I stopped and acted like I was looking at something and I tried listening to their conversation. I heard a lot of words but one word I heard was compro and then at the check out I saw them buying a tractor. I was impressed I got that one word out of their because they were talking so fast. I don't ever think I could talk that fast in spanish. One reason would be because I

Ave Maria by David Bisbal is my favorite spanish song. The first time I heard this song was when I was in middle school and my brother Jacob was in Spanish. He showed me it and I was hooked. When Sinereta played it in class I was like oh my God I know this song. It gets my blood pressure up and I can't help but dance. I'm not even sure what they are saying in the song but it has a great rhythm. The song was released in 2002 in his first album called Corazon Latino. The sales on that album was 1,700,000 sales

Chicago

For Thanksgiving I went to Chicago. When I was there, in our hotel the maids were all speaking spanish. I tried too see if I could understand what they were saying and if i could tell my family what they were saying, but they were talking really fast and I couldn't really understand them. Chicago is filled with spanish speaking people and it is really cool to listen to how they talk and see if you can carry on a conversation with them.

MEXICO

So my parents are going to Mexico in January and i was trying to give my dad some tips on speaking Spanish. I told him some little phrases that might come in handy but i don't think he caught on. They were looking at the resort they are staying at on the internet and saw a sign in Spanish. They asked me to help them translate it the words were a little to complicated for me. Then we zoomed in the picture to see that it was already translated but it was very small and at the bottom. I wish I could go with them to the resort but there are no kids allowed

Derek's Stories and My meetings

Derek is now home for christmas break. He has this friend up there that is mexican. He is a wrestler and he is ranked number 1 in the state of Iowa Divison 3. His name is Daniel Mendoza. Derek says he is pretty cool. Also this is one of my meetings with a mexican. He played on the same team I did for AAu. His name was Daniel Vega. He was a bug guy and fun to be around. We had some good times when we were on tournaments.

FELIZ NAVIDAD!

My family and I were in the car over the weekend and the song Feliz Navidad came on the radio. I asked my brother, Lucas if he even knew what Feliz Navidad was and of course, he said "yeah, it means Feliz Navidahhh!" i laughed and explained to him that it was Spanish for Merry Christmas and now he says Feliz Navidad all the time!

Translator: Wrong!

I'm sitting at home watching the show Friends with my brother Heath and someone says Hola! and Heath says that he knows what they said, and is talking all big about how he know Spanish. So what do I do? I start throwing out random Spanish words and Heath thinking he is big stuff is trying to think of what I am saying, but he can't so he gets the computer and goes onto some Spanish to English translator and types in Como Estas? and it come up with, I don't even know what it was but it was definitely wrong, and he said that it was not so I had to get out my Spanish notes from Spanish 1 and prove him wrong.

Real Spanish

I got to talk to my cousin's aunt a while ago. She is mexican and lives by the border in Mexico. She doesn't know a lot of English so my cousin, who is also mexican, translated for us. It was interesting hearing Spanish from her and trying to figure out what she was saying. She talked about how violent the border is and it made me realize how safe we really are in Iowa.
A couple months ago I was playing MW2. I got into a game lobby and there were some spanish speaking people in the lobby. I said hola me llamo Pablo and they started talking back in spanish. I couldn't understand everything they were saying but I could understand bits and pieces of what they said. It was cool to hear what they said but after that they got mad and left the lobby because I was dominating.

Daughters determination

I was walking the streets in Galena Illinois about two weeks ago. It was very cold but the trees behind the buildings were really pretty. Well worth it. Anyway, I walked into a clothing store, trying to warm up and litterally walked in on a mother and daughter's argument over clothes. The funniest thing was they switched from english to spanish. It was harder to follow but much more entertaining when I actually knew what they were screaming. The poor clerk had no idea. It was a very fun day. >.<''

Hunting Clothes

This weekend I went hunting. I did get one doe but that is not the point of this blog. While I was on the four wheeler and got all muddy. I thought great I am going to have to wash my clothes. That night while I took all of my equipment out of my orange coat I went to the washer and looked for the English version of the washing directions. First I looked on the tag on the neck, all I could find was Spanish and other languages. I thought this was America where we speak english, I did find the directions later but it was at the bottom of the coat where it was hard to find.

One time when i was with my dad and my grandpa and my grandpa girlfriend we went to a Mexican restaurant and I found out that she could speak spanish. She started to speak really fast and I could almost find out what she was saying. After that she started to talk about how she helped the police translate one time and it took forever and after it was done she had like 500 hundred dollars.

Mexican Restaurant

Today we went to the mexican restaurant in manchester for my birthday lunch. My parents took me. I told them that I wanted to go there because I love the food and haven't been there in a long time! They sang happy birthday to me in spanish of course and it's just cool to think that they celebrate birthdays the same way we do, and yes we each have our different ways of doing it but the singing part is the same and instead of cake, they give fried ice cream which is really good! Even though we are different from them we are also the same. The food was really good too, I got a chicken quesadilla and it was fantastic! I wonder if they eat american food too? It's a lot easier to understand what their trying to say because of sitting in spanish class with their accents and all.

Spanish in Church

Last weekend when I went to church in Delhi, their was a pamphlet on the end of the pew. When father was talking I grabed the pamphlet and started reading it. I was just thinking it would be some prayers, but when I flipped it over the other half was in spanish. I was supprised because I never thought I would see spanish in church. I started reading it. The pamphlet had spanish on one side and english on the other. I found out what some holy spanish words were. I found out that prayer was oración in spanish and that amar is to love in spanish. I understood some of the spanish on the pamphlet. I had flip it over for some of the bigger spanish words. It did keep me occupied most of church. At the end of church I took the pamphlet out thinking that it would be a good thing to blog about. This just shows that spanish is everywhere no matter where you are

Glade

I think a lot of people would have to agree with me that brushing your teeth for two whole minutes would be boring! Well when I brush my teeth I pick things up in my bathroom and read them. This morning while I was brushing my teeth I was thinking of what I could do a blog on. So I was reading the back of a Glade air freshener can...... and there was spanish on it!... What are the chances? It said " Precaucion." which most of you should know means caution. I think this is the first thing that I could actually read most of the spanish. I didn't know 14 of the words on the entire can! Some of them were,"calefaccion, almacenar, sobrepasen" and some more. I was really proud of myself because I felt like I knew something!! I was very suprised on how much spanish I really know. And never thought I would know enough to almost be able to read everything on the bottle.

Wal-Mart

Yesterday I was in Cedar Rapids at Wal-Mart. My mom and I were in the fruit and vegetable section and beside us was a hispanic couple. They were talking in spanish about how many apples they should get. I didn't quite understand what they were talking about the entire time. I picked up a couple words here and there such as apple, how many and what time it was. At first when I heard them speaking it was uncomfortable. I thought they were maybe talking about me but I then started comprehending what they were saying. After I realized what they were saying I felt much more comfortable and also surprised that I understood as much as I did.

New Lamp

As Senorita has alwasy said..."Spanish is everywhere.".... Well, she is right. I got this new lamp to go in my room. The box has been sitting in my room for quite a while now. So this weekend I decided to throw it away. Before I did, I looked at it. And what do you know... There was Spanish on it. It said "Lampara de piso Combinada." Which means, "Combo Floor Lamp." There were a few words that I did know like; rosa, advertencia, seguridad, que, todo, and some more. I also knew some verbs. Like tiene, llamar, and usar. I was suprised that I could read the first sentence of the instructions! But you will be suprised about how much you really know.

Mexican Restaurant

I really like going to Los Aztecas because they have amazing food and great service. So when I was over visiting my grandparents we decided to go out to eat there. I ordered my usual, which is Pollo Loco which is chicken with onions and peppers on it. I think it's amazing and the beans and rice are the best. Our meal was good, and the chips and salsa were really good. The salsa was a little spicy though. Then we ordered vanilla fried ice cream, which was really good. When we got it this time though it was already soft so it was easier to eat than last time. Mexican food is definitely my favorite food of all time(:

Mexican Restaurant

Friday my mom, dad, and I went to the Mexican restaurant. We ordered our food, and when we were done waiting the new waiter come over to our table. He looked at us and mumbled, ''No mas comida?'' Mom and dad, not knowing what he said answered no. He walked away and I told them that he just talked in Spanish not English. Obviously. I told my parents that he said, ''No more food?'' I asked my parents that if they were supposed to be talking in Spanish while we are clearly American. They of course didn't have an answer for it.

Majoring/Minoring in Spanish

So my sister came home this weekend, and I was talking about the preterite test we just took. I also was talking to her about how much I love Spanish. She told me that I was going to minor in Spanish just like her, because of how much I love Spanish. I really thought about it because college really isn't that far away. I told her that I would think about it because I think that it would be very fun and interesting. I think minoring in Spanish would be really good for the occupation I want to go into photography. Knowing Spanish in that job would help be, because it would really help me interact with the people I work with.

Travyn Cruz and Kaidyn Cruz

My Kind of sorta of step nephew is Travyn. His dad, Robert, my step sisters boyfriend, is half mexican, and Robert's mom and her family are very strong in their mexican culture and speak spanish all the time. so she teaches Travyn spanish words to say all the time. If you do something that Travyn doesn't approve of he doesn't call you crazy he calls you loco. and he never will say underwear he only says chonas. My step Nephew, Kaidyn, my step sisters son, cant talk yet but i know that when he can he will be speaking some Spanish like his brother. And I can't wait because I think it's cute. and it's nice for them to know about their culture and their language.

Spanish Phone

So Last night I was really bored and I decided to put my phone in spanish. It was actually really cool to see some of the words we know being used in different ways. Like my camera was now labeled tomar foto in my multimedia instead of take a photo. My inbox was endtrada. but things like mulitmedia didn't change like I thought it would. It was fun to look at all the different words and think what it was in english and see
if I was right
My parents when to mexico for there vacation and they told me that when they were there if you when to a store and you wanted something and walked out that they would kinda chase you to try to make a sale. They also said that the service they always had was amazing. Mom really liked the authenticness of the spanish foods. Mom bought me a new york jets pancho that I really like

After we got that made we tryed all of these tortilla chips and we determined that carlos o kellys had the best ones, but for the price there were expensive. We tried letting mitch cook tacos and mitch added two packets of seasoning instead of one so the hamburger was super spice and was nasty. After that we decied to never let mitch make tacos again.

Beia's Carr

If I ever need a ride to school for some reason I always txt Beia Wooten quick, and ask her she always says yes! When I'm walking out to her car I always think to my self what Spanish songs am I going to have to listen to today? When I get in there is usually a song on, When Beia is driving I'm sitting shotgun trying to figure out what the people are saying. Its very very hard because they are singing so fast, but I do pick up on some words!

Texas Roadhouse

While my family was at Texas Road House we were all waiting to be seated when my cousin looks at me and says 'Madi you're in Spanish right?' and I say 'Yeah' and then he said that there was a bunch of people speaking Spanish next to us and he was wondering what they were saying. So I started listening and I could make out exactly what they were saying but I could tell that they were talking about going to the bath room, because I heard bano a lot! They were also at one point talking about meat, most likely what they were going to eat. I love that I can pick up on these things, two years ago I would have looked at them like they were a bunch of freaks.

Telemarketer

We've all had those annoying phone calls that wake you out of bed or disrupt family time. You pick up the phone expecting a friend or family member, but you thought wrong. You say, "Hello," and there is a short pause before you here a recording or a cheerful voice that is only there to waste your time. Everyone's reactions are probably different. Some of you may be respectful and say, "Please take me off your list." While some of you may get angry and yell threw the phone at a person, who is just doing their jobs. Well what if you took a different approach?
Early one morning, as I'm just waking up, I get this phone call. Not thinking, I walk down stairs and rudely say, "Hello," into the phone. A lady's voice replies, "Hello Mrs. Sternhagen, we would like you to take part in a twenty minute survey on how you think Barack Obama is doing in office." Now I'm usually one of those people who freak out and hang up the phone, but I decided to take a different approach. I politely said, "No hablo ingles." Then I heard the lady shuffling things around and then a man takes the phone. He starts rambling off a bunch of spanish words so fast, that even if I wanted to digest the sentences, I wouldn't be able too.
In the end when I tell the story, I always laugh knowing no one else would of probably tried something like that. So, in the end if you take a different approach you will end up with a different conclusion.

Spanish at the World Dairy Expo

This year when the FFA traveled to the World Dairy Expo, I realized something, I could understand what more people were saying. People from all around the world come to this show and you are exposed to many nationalities. This year I heard a lot of Spanish. I could understand some of what they were saying too! I was able to understand certain words and phrases, even though I would have liked them to slow down a bit! It was interesting to actually be able to comprehend what they were saying and not feel like they were possible talking about me! I had fun, trying to translate what they were saying!
A few years ago I used to work with a mexican guy named Geno. He was actually from New Mexico but his family originated from Mexico. I worked with him for 2 years and he tried to teach me how to speak spanish but I really didn't pay attention. We worked every day together during the summer and most days we would go back to his house and hang out and play video games until until 10 o clock usually. After our work closed Geno moved away and I haven't seen him for a year and a half. My step brothers are friends with his little brother Noah. So that is my story about my New Mexican friend Geno.

So, during the summer, I went on vacation to the Dominican Republic. One day I was in the pool, and one of the Dominicans started speaking Spanish really fast. He was about 17 or 18. I gave him a confused look, and in English he asked, "Do you speak spanish?" and I said I know a little bit. He asked if I was American, and I said yes. So, for some reason he smiled and was like, "What's up bro?" and I said not much and that was pretty much the end of our conversation. It was quite wierd.

mark sanchez

So I was watching football last night a the ravens beat the Jets 34-17. The big reason for the jets loosing was because of Mark Sanchez their QB. Mark Sanchez threw 1 interception and fumbled the ball 4 times. For me being a New England Patriots fan it was fun watching the Jets get pounded and even more fun watching Mark Sanchez loose. Mark Sanchez is the Starting quarterback for the New York Jets. He attended college at USC and was drafted by the Jets in the NFL draft. I dont like Mark Sanchez and it was fun watching him and the Jets loose.

José Antonio Camacho

José Antonio Camacho was a soccer player born in the village of Cieza in 1955. He joined the team Real Madrid when he was 18. He played left defence between 1973 and 1989, and then had a knee injury that put his soccer career on hold for two years. He also played in two World Cups. In 1998, he was a one time player for the Real Madrid soccer club, and took over from Javier Clemente as the coach for Spain's national football team. He was a refreshing change for them. After his retirement as a player in 1989, he was part of the Real Madrid coaching team. He went on to coach three more Spanish teams, he took two of them into the First Division. He also coached Real Madrid for about 22 days in 1998, but made disagreements with the club's management.

Victor Martinez is a baseball player who plays for the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers are currently in the ALCS. If they beat out the Texas Rangers then they will go to the World Series. That is a major accomplsihment for anyone who plays the game of baseball. Victor was born in Cuidad Bolivar, Venezuela. He is a switch hitter, which means he can bat either right handed or left handed. He has been a All-Star in 2004, 2007, 2009, and 2010. He is a great baseball player and I hope he and Detroit make it to the World Series!

Spanish At Work

About three weeks ago I had to go to the doctor in Manchester so I stopped where my mom works. She works at the courthouse. While I was waiting for my appointment my mom was talking to another person she works with about school and I started talking about it too. Then we got on the subject of Spanish. The girl my mom works with said that she took it for two years and only used it once but it was in the strangest place. It was about ten years ago and she was the manager of a tool store and she was walking around door to door handing out fliers or something. She stopped at one persons house and the girl there only spoke Spanish, and they lived in Manchester! She stood there and tried to think of some words to say, because she hasn't talked in Spanish for about 15 years. She thought of enough words to hold a conversation. That proves Spanish is still important and it can be in any job. she was a tool store manager and she still had to speak Spanish and it was in Manchester, so Spanish is used everywhere even here.

Victoria Dawn Justice was born on February 19, 1993, in Hollywood, Florida. Even though she was not born in a Spanish country, her mother and father are both part Puerto Rican. Victoria is a very fluent Spanish speaker. She was hired in 2005 for Nickelodeon, on the show, Zoey 101. She now stars on the show, Victorious. Victorious is a very popular show. I really like Victoria. She is truly talented. Even though she is famous, she seems vey down-to-earth.

Jennifer Lopez was born on July 24, 1964 in New York. She began her career appearing in stage musicals and some music videos. She won a national competition and earned a spot dancing on a Fox comedy t.v. series "In Living Color" as one of the fly girls. She then appeared in a series of small acting jobs. Her first big break was in 1997, when she was chosen to play Selena. She got a Golden Globe nomination and became the highest-paid actress in the history with her paycheck of one million dollars.

She started her music career in June 1999. Her album "If You Had My Love" went platinum within two weeks. She is an actress, singer, record producer, dancer, television personality, fashion designer, and television producer. She is overall a good person! She is capable of doing so much and she has done so much for the world. To this day Jennifer has sold over 25 million albums worldwide! in 2007, Lopez released her first Spanish language album, "Como Ama una Mujer" whichalso did good on the Latin and pop charts! I really like Jennifer Lopez and how she is an actress. She is very good in movies and when I thought of doing our blog she is the first person that I thought of doing.

Los Lonely Boys

Los Lonely Boys

The other day I was at home watching the Country Network Station, when the Los Lonely Boys came on. They sang the song Heaven, I thought wow this song is really good. Then about their last versus they sang it in Spanish, it went by so fast that I couldn't even comprehend what they just sang, and I just heard that versus early. They are most well known for their songs Heaven and Feliz Navidad. Though they have been around for a long time I have never heard them before and hearing their song I thought that this was pretty cool to have a Spanish band in the Country singing world.

Specking Spanish

My dad works at Theisens and he see a lot of Mexicans that come in and will only speak spanish when they know English. He said that one day they were sitting there talking in spanish and somebody understood what they were saying and they were making fun of someone. So dad went towards them and they all of a sudden they stopped talking and turned around. Then one day I was in there and seen a couple Mexicans. I went in the next aisle and tried to listen to what they were saying but they went way to fast. You could still here what they were trying to like, express, in their tone of voice. Then I could tell if they were confused trying to look for something or actually talking about someone. All they would speak was in spanish when they could easily spoke English. They only spoke English when they went up to the counter and had to, but thats probably also what we would do to. If we were in a spanish speaking country.

T.V.

We just got Direct TV so I was looking around in the movie channels when I found a movie that I really wanted to see. I clicked on it and for some reason it was all in spanish. I tried changing the subtitles to english but it just stayed in spanish so I started watching the movie with spanish subtitles and could understand bits and pieces of the story line. About half way through the movie though I started to get a headache so I changed the channel. It seems more and more of the world is introducing spanish to Americans.
Okay so in studay hall i always here the freshman talking about Spanish. They are always studying. Hearing them talk seems so weird because they don't know all the words that we do and all the tenses. It seems like it has been forever sence Spanish 1. Now this year we learn 10 verb tenses!! This year has been fun so far but then again we have not done a nything but review so it has seemed easy i guess. The freshman looked at our review vocabulary packet and freeked out because they thought that we had to do all of that for vacb man. It seemed a lot to them but that wasn't even all of them. We now so much compraed to last year at this time. I thought over the summer i would forget everything but i didn't. I forgot alot but it comees back to after reviewing. I'm glad we spent all the time reviewing that we did. It helped me a lot!

Mark Sanchez is one of the uprising quarterbacks in the NFL. Many people don't know much about him but he is mexican-american. Mark was raised by his father since he was 4 years old because his parents filled a devorce. He played High School football at Santa Margarita. People knew from the start they had a star because on Mark's first pass it was a 55 yard touchdown bomb. Sanchez then after high school went and played college ball at USC and ended his college career with being drafted to the pros by the New York Jets with the fifth pick in the 2009 NFL draft. He is still in the learning process of becoming a pro but with almost getting a Super Bowl ring he is bound to carry his team to a title in time.

authentic mexican food

I get really irritated when ever i hear people talking about how they just went and had authentic Mexican food. I get this way because i have yet to go to a Mexican restaurant that actually serves authentic mexican food. The number one way i judge wither or not the place does serve authentic Mexican food is by their enchiladas if they use flour shells they aren't authentic. They would need to have a corn shell to be authentic. I know this because I was raised around a bunch of Hispanics. My dads best friend is a mexican and my friend growing up moved here from Mexico.

Home Depot

Me and my dad were in Home Depot when we walked by some mexicans who were speaking spanish. I told my dad to go on I was going to try to talk to them. I approached them and said ahola me llamo curtis. They began to talk extremely fast so I said goodbye and walked off. They probably thought I was really weird, but I couldn't understand anything they were saying.

Spanish Songs

Almost every Tuesday and Thursday we have a volleyball game. On the bus or just before our games I listen to Beia's ipod with her. On her ipod she has spanish songs that we listen to. Before this I never listened to spanish music all that much. The only time that I had ever listened to it was in class when Senorita would play it in class or when Beia's sister would sing them last year out loud. I think that spanish songs are fun to listen to because they are upbeat and I like to see what phrases I understand throughout the song.

Biology

When I use my textbooks at school I hardly ever pay attention to all the stuff in the back. So the other day when I went to use the glossary in the back of my biology book I discovered a Spanish glossary. It was kind of cool to try to pronounce the words and see what they are. Even though I really don't remember the words that I read it was awesome just to take time to look at it.

Claudia

When I went to homecomming in Monticello we went with a group with some couples. One of the other girls was a mexican. what was really cool about her was that she was proud to be mexican. If someone ever talks bad about mexicans she stands up for mexicans. One time I know for instance she put her Facebook status to something along the lines of I cant change who I am or what I have come from so if you cant handle it then thats that because I love being a mexican and I wouldn't want to be anything else. i think it's really cool that she stands up for herself and her culture when everyone tries to put it down.
My blog is about Oscar de la Hoya. He is one of the greatest boxers ever known. Hoya's parents are from Mexico where boxing ran in the family. Both De La Hoya's father and grandfather were boxers. De la Hoya was born in L.A. De La Hoya himself started boxing at the age of six. He won many junior championships when he was young. He was the only U.S. boxer to win the 1992 gold medal in the olympics. He won four different weight titles. that is very good! He retired from boxing in 2009. He now is a boxing promoter

Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez is a very talented musicion. She was born on July 22, 1992. Selena was born in Grand Prairie, Texas. Her mother is Mexican and her father is Italian so she has a mixed heritage. Selena is known for many things. She has been an actor since she was little. She has been in various movies and has her own television show. She also has her own album. When she was little she stared in the show Barney and Friends. She also started in The Suite Life of Zach and Cody, and Hannah Montana. But now she is the lead roll in Wizards of Waverly Place. Euduardo Najera

Mexican AthletesEuduardo Najera is a NBA basketball player. He plays for the Denver Nuggets. Eduardo is the second Mexican born player to ever play in the NBA. He is a 6'8 power forward and his coach says he is one of the hardest working players in the league. His coach said that his intensity is the reason why he is so good at rebounding and being a defender. In college ball he played at the Unniversity of Oklahoma. Euduardo is always giving back to his people back home. In 2004 he founded the Euduardo Najera Foundation for Lation Achievement. This provides schoolarships for outstanding Lation students. Spanish Wedding

I went to Texas last summer for my cousins wedding. Her fiance's name is Xavier. He is Mexican. I was really excited to go to the wedding because there was going to be Spanish traditions in it. The wedding programs were made in English and Spanish. The first reading at mass was read in English, and a Spanish translation was in the program. The second reading was read in Spanish, and there was an English translation in the program. Most of Xavier's relatives spoke English, but some didn't, and some only knew a few words. At the mass, there was a lasso tradition. A big lasso/rosary was put around both my cousin and Xavier and they said their vows tied together.
The reception was very fun. I tried dancing to the music but i couldn't keep up with everyone. The dances they all did were really fast and had a lot of hip movements in them. I can't wait to go back next summer and practice speaking Spanish with my new relatives.
Adrian Gonzalez is one of the most popular Mexican athletes. He plays baseball for the Boston Red Sox. He was the number one pick in the major league draft by the Florida Marlins. He has been in the all star game 3 times. He has won the MVP too. Adrian was asked to represent the Red Sox at the 2011 home run derby.
Adrian has one of the best batting avg in the MLB. Adrian is very rich in his heritage. In his last season he hit 27 home runs! He also had 117 RBI's. http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=408236Adrian Gonzalez Adrian Gonzalez #28 of the Boston Red Sox poses for a portrait during the Boston Red Sox Photo Day on February 20, 2011 at the Boston Red Sox Player Development Complex in Ft. Spanish Songs :)

So my sister really got my hooked on listening and singing to Spanish songs. Last year I found it very annoying of her to continuously listen to them. But now that she has updated my iPod, i listen to them nonstop. They even have their own playlist, "Spanish Songs <3'' I probably have about 10 songs, and now, in my car, I no longer listen to Britney Spears. :) Spanish songs are very upbeat and entertaining. I can alomst sing the song, "Tu Eres Mi Cancion.'' I don't think people realize how fun and educational these songs are.

Mexican food

One day my family and I went to the mexican restaurant. My family and I love eating there and I always try to see if I can understand what they say and tell my parents what they are saying. I had a short conversation with one of our waiters. When I ordered I said it in spanish well tried to any way. But then we ate and left so that was the time I ate at the mexican restaurant.

Shopping

During the summer my mom and I went shopping. There was some Mexican people shopping near us and they were chatting up a storm. My mom thought that they were talking about her because they know that she wont understand. I think it's kind of funny because she's just paranoid. I tried to understand what they were saying and i just got out of it that they were talking about the clothes. So she was worried about nothing.

Seventh Hour Study Hall

Seventh hour I have study hall, and whenever I hear freshmen talking about spanish, it reminds me of last year, spanish one. Some days I will hear complaints about vocab man, and think of how much it helped me to study. Sometimes I also hear them talking about other homework, and think of how easy it sounds now, but how hard it was last year. Seventh hour study hall brings back a lot of spanish memories.

spanish in the car xD

last night I was watching a movie with my girl friend and it go boring so we went for a drive and we were listening to the radio and all of the sudden the radio went from english to spanish and we both started laughing because we had no idea what was going on so then we changed the radio station and the next station was spanish too, I then asked her if she bumped a button or something to make it all in spanish, she said no, it was wierd that the radio just switched from english to spanish randomly like it did but it was kinda fun listening to that spanish stuff outside of school so then i sat there listening to it trying to see how many of these spanish words I new. I just thought that was cool that the radio changed to spanish and me and my girl friend both noticed it and it was kind of cool even though we could not really understand the spanish music all that well when we have only taken a couple years of spanish.

Spanish Racism...

My mom was helping me figure out what to write my blog about. She mentioned that she had a Mexican woman apply with her. The lady told her that at another nursing home, some of the residents wouldn't allow her into their rooms because she was "one on them." I never realized that there was that kind of racism toward Mexican people. I think that it's sad that people think that way. There shouldn't be those kinds of feelings towards them. When my mom said this i was shocked because my mom works with many women from Mexico and so does my dad. There is nothing different about them and anyone else other than their origin. This was shocking because this lady was very fluent in English and the only way you would know she was Mexican was by her looks. I could see not wanting to try to communicate with her if she was not fluent in English because it would be hard but there really is no reason of that.

Mexican Restaurant

Before our first football game this year at Ed-Co, Jesse Smith went out to eat at Las Floras. To start we had chis and salsa. The salsa was very spicy. We had enchiladas which were also very spicy and came with guacamole. Our waiter was Mexican and he was very nice. He didn't speak fluent English but we could still understand him because we knew Spanish well enough. We were going to order in Spanish but we didn't want him to think we were making fun of him or mocking him and we were a little nervous about saying the wrong thing.

Hamilton Beach Crock Pot

My mom got this new crock pot a while back. And I was cleaning the house this weekend and found the box. So I looked at it and..... it had Spanish on it. I knew some of the words. On one side of the box it said, "Viaje y Sirva sin derrames" Which means "Travel and Serve with no mess." It also said "Olla de coccion de 7 cuartos de galon." The pot of cooking or baking of 7 quarts. So in "regular" English it means "the crock pot holds 7 qts." There was two sides of the box that had Spanish on them and I was suprised how many words I didn't know. We learn a bunch of words in Spanish 1. But there was about 50 words on that box that I didn't know.

My dad is in love wit mexican food so we eat at a mexican food place all the time. I love mexican food to. But when we go to the mexican place I always try to talk spanish to the people that take my order. I mess up sometimes. But I correct myself and they are nice and don't laugh at me. The best food there is the chicken enchiladas with the rice and refried beans.

Flan and Fried Ice Cream

One day when my cousin came up to visit from Florida we went out to eat at Los Aztecas. After finishing the meal and chips and salsa, we decided that we wanted to try flan. It looked good on the dessert menu, and was covered in carmel, chocolate and whipped cream. And so we ordered it and waited for it to come. Needless to say, it looked good when you first see it, but the taste and texture was disgusting. Josh and I took one bite from the flan and were both repulsed. The texture was thick and chunky and the taste was like rice pudding. Never again will I eat flan.

Another time I went out to eat with my grandma at Los Aztecas and decided that I wanted to try fried ice cream. We ordered the strawberry kind. At first when we got it we could barely stab into it and had to wait a couple minutes for it to soften up. After it did it was delicious. We ate as much as we could, but there was still a lot left. Fried ice cream is definitely my favorite Mexican dessert.

Ker Plunk

I was playing Ker Plunk with my sisters and it has been a while since I played last. So I looked for the directions but we lost them. I looked on the box and what do you know? I found spanish on it! On the front of the box it said, no dejes que las canicas caigan! I only knew three words in that sentence; no, que, and las. But later I figured out that it meant "Don't let the marbles fall." Then at the top of the box it said "requiere ensamble" and this one wasn't that hard to figure out... Assembly required. I turned the box over and more spanish was on there. Which suprised me, I knew that Spanish was in a lot of places but I would have never guessed it would be on a Ker Plunk game box. Almost everything on the box was translated from English to Spanish. My favorite saying on the box is "Escoge una varita y sacala!"....which means "Choose a stick and pull."

Get the paper!

I always go to Dubuque to see my brother on the weekends, but this time was just weird. Me and my family went to Wal-Mart. Well, while my mom was spending all day finding out which shampoo she was going to get, in the next aisle were some spanish-speaking people. I listened for about a minute and heard this, "Sacas el papeles!" "No tienen el papeles!" Right here I was like... what? Get the paper, they don't have the paper... Doesn't Wal-Mart always have paper? I thought about that until I got home, wondering what type of paper he was talking about. Eventually I just gave up. Their is obviously some other type of "papers".

Worktime spanish lesson.

I was in galena this summer. Working for my grandmother at her Grill. It was slow for a while and a customer wanted something for his allergies. I ran down to a little shop, and as soon as I walked in I found what I was looking for. But of course I noticed it was a Mexican shop. No english. At least I knew what he was saying. I think. :/

Flan

Flan is a very famous spanish desert, served everywhere in Spain. There are any different types of Flan, but the most popular kind is caramel. Flan can come in many different shapes and sizes. The ingredients used to make regular Flan is sugar, eggs, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla. Flan takes about an hour and twenty minutes to make. I have been told that it is a very difficult desert to make. I would like to try Flan someday, possibly even make it myself. "Easy Flan Recipe." Mexican Food. Web. 04 Oct. 2011.

spanish blog1

This summer i had a lot of Mexican food and it was really good. This included tacos, burritos, and enchiladas. I preferred the burritos because they are more filling. I wish i could have some with the spices actually used in Mexico.

My Second Blog

While I was at my job over the sumer detasseling, I found other people who were taking a spanish class. While walking I tried to understand most of the things they were talking about and a funny fact is the guy's name is also Tyler and he is in spanish 3. He just used spanish 1 talk though so I really don't know how much of the language he can use because I think we learned more than he did in one year versus his three years. We talked about what we liked to eat and drink and what games we liked to play but after we got done with one pass he had to go to a different group that was lacking in speed so that was the only time I saw him. End of blog 2.

adventure at Adventureland

One day we went to adventureland to go to my dads company get together. We were having loads of fun riding roller coasters and the space shot and then we went to lunch. After lunch we went to the water park and rode the lazy river for an hour or so and then we went on slides and such. After we were bored of the water park me and my cousin went on some more rides and it was about closing time at 9:50. So we get in line to ride the splash over and then a girl budges us. Her friend was in line right ahead of us but we thought o well it was only one person. So as the line gets shorter the girl gets really nervous and i know this because i could understand most of what she was saying even though she was speaking spanish. She kept saying that she was nervous and scared but her friend who also spoke spanish was trying to comfort her and i dared not speak a word because i thought they would go off in rapid fire spanish trying to talk to me. And that was my great spanish adventure at adventureland.
